Make your own rainbow

We've learned that white light is made up of all colors in the rainbow. The white light can be divided, so the colors are shown individually, by refraction. Let's use white light - from the sun, or a flashlight - and refraction, to make a rainbow at home!

The two videos below demonstrate different ideas on how to create your own rainbow. They are very simple - all you need is sunlight, or a flashlight, water, and a mirror or disc!

Try out the different ideas. Which works best? Let us
know!

Thermal energy vocabulary practice

Hey class!

Since we are reviewing thermal and light energy, here is a game online to review the vocabulary for thermal energy.

The narrator will tell you the word to spell, and use it in a sentence. You must use the arrow keys on your computer to move the mouse to the left, to the right, and jump up to catch the correct letters to spell the word. The more letters you catch in a row, the more points you earn. But be careful! You want to catch the correct letters, in order. If you accidentally catch the wrong letter, you will lose points. Watch out for the cat! He like to throw balls at you, and make you lose points too.

Feed the dingo

Hey kids!

Since we are reviewing the ecosystems, and the food chain I found a cool activity online where you can create your own ecosystem!

FEED THE DINGO

Remember, a balanced food chain is necessary for an ecosystem to do well. Each living thing requires energy which they get from another plant or animal in that environment!

In Feed the Dingo, you are given different plants and animals to create a balanced desert ecosystem.

1. Remember your studies and think about which living things are producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers etc...

2. You have 12 days, and each day, you must add 5 plants or animals to the ecosystem.
If you click the bubble above the plant/animal, you learn what it needs to survive.

3. Remember what each animal eats! We need to keep them healthy.

If it does not have food, it will die, and ruin the ecosystem!

Have fun!

Hi / advertisements

Hi guys!

I hope you and your families are all doing well!

Wow, your zentangles for art class are super cool and creative! You are inspiring me to make one.

Since you are reviewing advertisements, here is a link to practice making a simple advertisement.

Advertisement “Creator”

What should an advertisement consist of?

Remember an advertisement needs:

The name of the product, or service. It needs to be large and clear to grab the attention of the consumers!

Advertisements should have a large, colorful picture of the product, or service to give a better idea and message about the product or service to consumers.

Advertisements should provide the consumer with the important information about the product or service they are trying to sell/provide.

I hope that this helps with your advertisement project! I cannot wait to see how they come out.

A big hug,
Kassie
